A New Class of Decentralized Interaction Estimators for Load Frequency Control in Multi-Area Power Systems
Authors
Abstract:
Load Frequency Control (LFC) has received considerable attention during last decades. This paper proposes a new method for designing decentralized interaction estimators for interconnected large-scale systems and utilizes it to multi-area power systems. For each local area, a local estimator is designed to estimate the interactions of this area using only the local output measurements. In fact, these interactions are the information of other area. A new scheme is developed to construct an approximate model for the interaction dynamics and design a local estimator. The designed local estimator exploits the model of each area and its actual inputs and outputs to produce a good estimation of unknown states and interactions. It is shown that in the proposed method the errors of estimation are globally ultimately bounded with respect to a specific bound. Our scheme is used to design decentralized estimator for a three-area power system to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

full textA Robust Decentralized PSOLMI Controller Design for Load Frequency Control in Multi-Area Power Systems
-In this paper, a simple and robust proportional-integral (PI) controller has been proposed for load frequency control (LFC) in multi-area power systems. The proposed control design, called PSOLMI, benefits from the robust performance of the H∞ control, expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), and the optimization capabilities of the particle swarm optimization algorithms, simul...
full textLoad Frequency Control in Power Systems Using Multi Objective Genetic Algorithm & Fuzzy Sliding Mode Control
This study proposes a combination of a fuzzy sliding mode controller (FSMC) with integral-proportion-Derivative switching surface based superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) and PID tuned by a multi-objective optimization algorithm to solve the load frequency control in power systems. The goal of design is to improve the dynamic response of power systems after load demand changes. In t...

Bevrani, Hassan (2004) Decentralized robust load-frequency control synthesis in restructured power systems. Preface This dissertation is mainly focused on technical issues associated with load-frequency control (LFC) in restructured power systems. Operating the power system in a deregulated environment is more complex than in the past, due to the considerable degree of interconnection and the p...
full textRobust Overlapping Decentralized Control for Multi-area Longitudinal Power Systems
The problems of robust overlapping decentralized control for a class of multiarea longitudinal power systems are discussed in this paper. A special overlapping decomposition method is presented in terms of inclusion principle. Based on the decomposition, a new control method is formed by means of Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) approach of Organically-Structured Control (OSC). The proposed metho...
